Need sound cable help

Unfortunately not cable internet, but I'm looking into hooking up an Xbox 360 to my computer monitor and need some help with the sound situation. I will be using http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x...le/default.htm.

Now there's 2 ways I was thinking I could set up the sound:
1) Get an adapter to go from the red/white cables to my sound card, and then use my computer's speakers/headphones.
2) Get an adapter to go directly from the red/white cables to headphones.

I don't know if these options are possible, or which is the best way. Help please. :)

Alright, do you know what the adapter would be called? (I tried to look this stuff up, but it's hard when I don't know the technical names)

Make sure it has the right connections on the end. Some cables take a 3.5mm plug whilst others give a 3.5mm connection at the end.
