    Is 620W enough?

    Hi Guys,

    I am becoming a bit insecure about my PSU as i am beginning to doubt it, heres the story:

    I am in Uni now, i bought a PC from a UK site, i have to ship it back home but i don't want to ship it back home and find out the PSU is not enough.

    See specs in Sig, btw is 4gigs of ram as i have ordered extra from amazon.

    As i said i am quite concerned can anyone here on the forums reassure me please. Thank you guys/gals.

        definitely. Check my PC specs. I only have a 520 watt PSU and it works fine. You're system doesn't use that much more than mine, I think.

          wow thnx Jake that really re-assured me lol, um does OCing apply more watts or not like does it use the PSU more?

            620W is enough for 95% of SLI systems. So you're way in the clear.

            Yes OCing does increase power consumption. Frequency increases linearly, while voltage is exponential. ie, don't increase the voltage if you don't have to if you're worried about power consumption.

              the efficiency of the PSU is as much important as the Wattage. A highly efficient lower wattage psu beats a higher watt less efficient one. That's why you NEVER skimp on price when it comes to your PSU.

                well i still have my old E6750 and want to up it by a mere 34mhz to make 3.0ghz, is that fairly possible?

                Thnx Spark that was good info and Vash yeah that rule applies to everyone lol don't ever go cheap on PSU.

                  i currently have my E6750 running at 3.0GHz, CPU can easily do more but my Ram limited me to 3.0 for 8 hour stability, i could get it to run at 3.2 for a few hours or orthos but the ram decided to be unstable after a few hours.

                    impl, i don't understand quite enough, you can run your 6750 for 8hrs only, at 3.0ghz then it becomes unstable and you have to clock it back to 2.66 or what?! (Halp me is noob on OCing and stability).

                      a general length of time used which generally shows good stability is 8hours, also then you don't have to leave your pc testing for some ridiculous amount of time. When it is unstable it freezes or BSOD's usually so stability is good.

                        I think you mean .34GHz rather than 34MHz. :p

                            34Mhz= 0.034 Ghz.

                            340Mhz = 0.34 Ghz

                              Yes, six point two inches is more than adequate. There are many men with less than four inches and it is a well known fact that only four inches is required in the overwhelming majority of cases. However, six inches tends to be inadequate for certain highly demanding cases, particularly with situations that require dual supplies. In this case, a long duty cycle is preferable for maximum frequency response.
