Bsod!!!

Hey,

I was just away from my pc and it went into sleep mode.. however when i went to use it the BSOD was up... why would it do this? all hardware is stock.. i haven't OC'd anything or done anything dodgy...

You need to post the error codes you get on the BSOD.

If the computer restarts too quickly before you can see the BSOD writing, turn off automatic restart:

hmm yeah i was going to write it down but it was a bit quick.. i got a pen for next time (hopefully wont be a next time).. atm im running 3 memtests.. each running 1000mbs of ram.. soo far soo good.. just to make sure the rams all ok.




how long should i test for? its been about 50 minutes now..

I'd say a couple of hours.

And, turn automatic restart off so it will stay on the blue screen until you manually restart it.

Could just be a random crash, they do happen sometimes.

After reading all the issues you have with your computer..I will let you ship the sucker to me, I'll fix it all up for you and ship it back cause I swear you have the worst luck with computers I've ever seen! :laugh:

BSOD's can be caused from either hardware issues or software issues... to narrow down you can search around per the error code you get on the screen however sometimes thats hard to figure out.

Here is a nice little tool that will sometimes tell you what's caused a crash in the past.

It is from Dell but it will work on non-dell computers too and has worked alot for me to diagnose a issue.

Otherwise for hardware heat is a big cause of BSOD's... or a failing part.

Lots of people fail to properly uninstall graphics drivers, or don't let them install in the first place then have all kind of issues.

lol yeah i do have alot of bad luck with these things and thanks for that tool i will use it just incase it happens again :) but with all the things gone wrong i must be damn close to reaching the end of possible failures.. i think i have had nearly every one by now :p

I think you need to start over.. fresh install..if you still have them then its a hardware issue most likely, but re-download the drivers for everything first.

yeah i just did that like 2 days ago... and tonight while playing CoD4 it froze again.. i had to hold the power button in to restart it i don't know whats wrong with it.. its got brand new GPU and two brand new HDD's.. a brand new PSU.. so i don't know what its problem is.. im thinking i might just send it to a specialist and just get them to fix it because if it keeps going my patience will snap and i will most likely throw it in the pool or something stupid.. so i will send it off to a technician and see what they can do with it..

Well you need to take things out that are needed at this point..like running two HDD's..take one out that your using to slave for now just for the hell of it.. take out all the ram chips cept for one and run memtest on it..then if it passes with no errors take it out and put another in and start over again till your all finished testing the ram to make sure no problems there.

Before/after doing that make sure everything is seated properly, including the HSF on the CPU..might have to re do the thermal paste solution anyway.

Get a volt meter and test each rail from the PSU also...ya never know. Once you narrow it down to maybe one or two parts... borrow a few parts from a friend and test to narrow it down to the possible one part doing it.

This is all things a Tech will do other than reloading the system to remove software issues.

^^ yeah i would do that if i had ANY patience left.. but i have been trying to fix problem after problem for the last 6 months... im by far at the very tip of my breaking point.. i have just had enough of it.. this thing has cost me not only a hell of alot of time but ALOT of money.. and no matter how many problems i finally figure out how to fix another seems to just take its place.. in the whole time i have had this pc it has NEVER just worked how it should.. so rather than stress over it anymore i would feel better just packing it up and sending it off to get fixed by someone with a bit more patience and alot more experience. If i spend another day stressing and working on this thing i think ill endup in a mental asylum :p

How much research did you do before doing this build?

No offense, but it sounds like you where lost from the start. Before my first build I put in about 50 hours worth of homework and made sure to cover ever corner there is.

As Sava said. Just remove everything, start from the beginning making sure everything is secured. Then reinstall windows, as well as drivers.

If the BSOD continues, I think you should take it to someone.

Again, not trying to put you down, just trying to give you constructive criticism.

well i chose the parts carefully and actually paid the people to put it together which also bought me 12 months warranty.. i have only had the BSoD once.. since then i have just had a freeze...
