Overclocked ram + 9800s

1) Does anyone here overclock their ram? Do you see any noticeable performance increase?

2) Where are all the benchmarks for the 9800 cards? Are they any better than the 8800GTS/GTX in terms of price/performance ratio?

OCing ram is kinda a waste with the speeds they are pumping now out of the box.

As for your benchmarks of the 9800 cards? well here is one good review showing some but from a POV card which isn't exactly the best.

I'm getting ready to fire up 3dMark06 and test this brand new BFG 9800 GTX OCX card I just got in today on the system stats in my postbit. I'm rather curious on how much it swings higher than the Reference(non OCed edition) 8800GTX I had.

I mean POV's suck so much they are bundling FFOW with it LOL

I overclock my RAM, but it makes nowt all difference above PC-6400.

The only reason i do it is because i dropped my CPU multiplier, and thus, had to use a larger front side bus meaning greater RAM speeds.

I have becasue due to CPU overclocking, and i was silly and bought PC-5300 rather than pc-6400, and so my RAM is limiting my CPU overclock, I can use unlinked mode but that seemed to bring about all kinds of instability issues.

Yea, i made the mistake of buying slower RAM at first so i couldn't lower the multiplier and hit a big FSB without taking the memory too far.

1. Yes. No. OCing your RAM isn't a way to get a faster computer.

2. Reviews are all over the place, I can't get away from em. Dunno how you missed them. Anyways, here and here. Are they better than the G80 parts? (8800GTX/GTS) IMO, they're not. 9800GTX is just an overclocked 8800GTS 512MB. Its hard to pay $100 extra for an OCed card with a new name. If you're looking for a high end card, pick the 8800GTS 512 or wait for the 9900 series, which uses a new GPU.

OC'ing RAM is a definite no.

As for your video card....
What resolution monitor are you running?
Unless you're running a high resolution or just about anything over1280x1024 on crysis, you don't need to overclock.
Chances are you ahve a 1280x1024 monitor. In that case, you will already be maxed out on an 8800GT. Overclocking makes the card faster, but you will see no improvements.

It is not a definite no, it just doesn't make much difference.

Sometimes it's required with slower RAM when overclocking.
