    D Drive problem.

The Disk drive on my computer won't recognize any type of disk. If you put a disk into the drive the light will blink for a few seconds and then stop. Nothing opens up. If I go into my computer I see DVD-RW Drive ( D: ) even when a disk is in it. If I click it tells me to insert a disk into the drive. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling it, updating drivers but neither did anything. Can anybody help.

It might have died. When that happened to me a while back (when I was still on a dell), they just sent me a new drive and it worked.

try plugging a different drive in its place if you can get one or borrow one... just turn if off before unplugging/plugging anything in.

Have you tried restarting the computer?

The device manager says it's working properly. I don't know much about computers so if it's not too much trouble could anyone give me an idea of a new drive that would allow me to play bf2?

Also try upgrading your firmware. Go to your drive manufacturers website and look for firmware updates. That usually fixes problems like yours.

the drive controller is native by windows default.. uninstall it through device manager then restart the computer and let it redetect the drive.
