    Sony Vegas 7 help

Well, I made a quick video with flashy effects in Vegas 7 but I can't figure out how to render it with a good quality and small filesize Either it looks like crap or it's great quality but with a filesize over 100 mb...

Anyone has any tips for which codecs/settings I should use? I'm lost here...

    Cheers

I swear you can just set the resolution on the save menu to what you want, though I havent used Vegas 7 in a while...It vanished off my HD :/

I've never used Vegas, so I can't comment on specific settings.

But, what codec are you using and what bitrate?

If you're not already, Try DivX or Xvid. Just play with the bitrate until you get a good quality/size ratio.

Edit: Nevermind what I said. Listen to vika09

        Re: Sony Vegas 7 help

        I use Vegas Pro 8.

Depends on what you want to upload. If you want to upload to youtube, then there a few settings, if you want normal 480i settings then there are other variables to work with.

If for youtube, the best method would be to use the H.264 codec.

I use mine through ffdshow video codec pack. Here

Once that is done (a restart is usually needed).

To Render As, and then choose Media for windows? (.avi), then go to custom.
Under the video tab, choose Default Template, then 320x240 (Multimedia).
For the codec choose ffdshow and then configure. Under the new window choose H.264.

Then do other settings (audio etc).
        Then render. :)
        These images might help.

Well, I've always just rendered @ 3mbps .wmv - turns out very nicely on youtube.

If you're looking for higher than that, either up the mb's or render as .avi.
