Windows XP 64 yay or nay

    Hey TGN

Well I want to format my hdd and the only os that I have is windows xp 64bit so will it cause any problems with games/other programs.

Will there much of an improvement in performance over xp 32bit ?

EDIT: I have found a 32 bit version of Windows XP

Unless your planning on running over 4gigs of ram I wouldn't fool with it and just go out and get yourself the 32bit version.

Xp 32 will usually only see from 2-3gb of ram max. So if your running more than that 64 bit will allow more ram to be used. Not to mention it speeds up most processes.

XP 32 bit will see about 3.5 out of the 4. But yeah thats what I said about him going 64bit if he's going to use more than 4gigs otherwise its not worth the added extra troubles.

The amount of memory seen by Windows XP 32bit depends on the amount of other system memory, such as GDDR. Most people estimate 3.5gb as that takes into account a <512mb graphics card and any other components.

Wouldnt go with XP 64bit, drivers are hard to come by.

If you wanted a 64bit OS Vista would be a viable option.

My friend has XP 64bit and absolutely hates it due to all of the driver and compatibility issues.

Strange, Im using XP x64, and I haven't had any driver or compatibility issues aside from a creative x-fi driver that was eventually updated and now works fine.
