Samsung SM2232BW 22" Glossy Widescreen Black TFT Monitor? TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY?

Hello TGN! well i am almost done with my coursework i.e. assessments, and projects and finally freed up some timez Techs and Hardware!

Back when i was home in Easter, i saw this lovely Samsung 22" for a dead cheap price, i mean the price is an absolute steal, its only 10 to 15% more than my old 19"wide screen LCD.

Now i have to feed my GTX, and don't rly want to get a 24" as they are quite a bit well they are a tad more $$$, so i had this in mind and added it to mah siggy, so what do u guys think? some of the reviews in amazon are appalling but most of them are good. (i am gunna buy this at a local retail shop). :)

man that screen is bada$$...I know tons of people who have it..And they LOVE it..I dont think youll be disappointed..Also if theyre good enough deal...Get me one!!!!! Lol

I own a close model to it and it is an awesome screen. I use it for gaming.

Only downside I have are for games that cannot support wide screen, like 2142. It makes it a bit skewed.

There are work arounds for most games though.

Depends if you like glossy screens. Personally I can't stand them. If this not a problem for you then go for it.

ah its not a prob, i usually close the curtains in my room back home i love to play in teh darkness! best way i can see the gfx of the game!

Well then i guess i will buy it thnx every1 for the help. _S3rH3nD_ i would love to but asus is a tad more $$$ than the samsung one i saw back in my counrty.

You can force widescreen in 2142...

Tried that, it crashes 2142. I have it "running" but the movements are real clunky, like I have weights on my boots. and I seem to be able to perform super human feats, like jumping way over people when they are prone, with the way its setup.

Eagle, check it out at your local shop. Its the same screen as mine, in a different case. If they can hook it up for you to see, the one YOU will purchase, check it for dead pixels.

Otherwise, I think you will be fine.

I have this monitor. And all I can do is praise it. It is made to an amazing standard, it looks absolutely amazing. Took me a while to get the colour/gamma/brightness/contrast and stuff right, but setting the colour to cool and then working from there seemed to work well.

The actual picture is wonderful, it is incredibly vibrant. Colours are rich, and my god does it make Bioshock, Crysis and Oblivion look insane.

Also, with it being widescreen was a huge plus. At first I didn't expect it to make much of a difference, but it really does. It is much easier on your eyes, especially as our eyes are supposed to be suited more to widescreen as they are next to each other on your face, not on top of each other.

This is probably one of the few upgrades in my PC that will stay there for a very long time.

It is worth it!
