Removing A Program

I need to find out how to completely remove any existance of a program from my hard drive. I know how to delete it from the hard drive by using the remove program option. But, I need to also remove anything that belongs to it, such as registry and any other things.

Although I know how to remove it manually from the registry, can someone explain in detail on how to remove it - haven't done it in awhile and don't want to mess anything up. Also, if there is any program that automatically removes it, please let me know.

And, is there any other traces of a program besides the actual folder on the hard drive and registry? If so, please let me know what and how to remove it.

you might try ccleaner, that has an option for removing programs, and cleaning registry.

under the downloads they even have a portable version you can just run, you dont even have to install it.

Doubt he will post the program. I'm guessing its a program that downloaded itself from a site not to be viewed by minors.

OT: It depends on how advanced the system is. Sometimes it just uses the system clock (Easy to fool) other times it uses more hack-proof measures.

The program is AnyDVD - it removes the coding from DVD's so you can burn them.

To my knowledge a add/remove of the program should get 98% of it.. you can finish a clean sweep using regcleaner

Just load that..then search through software for any thing from SlySoft or "AnyDVD" and that should take care of any traces of it.

Yah I'll try the RegCleaner because when AnyDVD uninstalls it says "Saving Restore Point" or something like that, but never shows the directory.

Ohh and turn off System restore.... that thing is a resource hog anyway.

How exactly do I turn off system restore and how does that affect anything? Also, after I installed RegCleaner is gave me some error about RegCleanr.exe, then I tried removing something with SlySoft in it and it gave me another error (some kind of language error I think) and it didn't uninstall it.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you have more problems than what you think... to turn off system restore right click on My Computer, select properties then click the System restore tab and check the box to turn it off...it will prob take a few mins to shut off. But otherwise next you need to double click MyComputer..go to your Root drive or C: drive for most and right click on it select properties and Tools..select Error-Checking, check both boxes for auto fix errors and scan for bad sectors and reboot..let it run and fix whatever it finds. If your still getting errors you either need to just back up everything and reload windows, or do a windows repair using the disk. If your having trouble understanding how to do that just google search how or find someone that knows a little about computer reloads.
