nvidia gigabyte 7600 GS

hi everyone,

I bought a new AGP card for my old rig and 2 gigs of ram..

motherboard is from gigabyte dunno which
intel pentium 4 titan 2.4 GHZ
2x1GB Veritech 400 Mhz RAM
Gigabyte nvidia 256 MB AGP 8x with passive cooling
power supply is 450W
maxtor 30 GB HDD
fans:standard case fans
problem: everything is ok with the temperatures of CPU and all except GPU temps.

when idle(right when i launch the PC after a long time) it is 45-50 C
after having the PC launched for an hour temp is 70C
after playing BF2 for hours and hours the temp is max:76C

it has this passive cooling thing the heatsink:


should i now buy an extra case/slot fan?
should i get the heatsink out and place a fan instead?
i think it would be better if i put an extra fan..am i right or wrong?
what should i buy if i go for an extra case/slot fan?
what should i buy if i go for replacement?
what would fit?
what would be the best?

my bucket is 50 dollars for that only..

My brother has that card, although the PCI-E version. Not nice things

I got a 120mm fan and tied it to the passive heatsink using cable ties. It dropped temps by about 20c. Cost 99p for 100 cable ties and the fan was spare.

99 pence? lol..but hey 20 C is more than i expected..100 ties..that sounds like a waste tho..any other solutions alex?anyone?

$2.00 for cable ties.... seriously. Throw the rest away then.

Before i got them, i used string to tie it to the card.

ok good but what with fan? what kinda fan you tied to gpu?did you tie it on the heatsink?

A bog standard 120mm fan. I put a cable tie through the screw holes and then secured around the copper heatpipes.

copper heatpipes of that heatsink? what about power suplly? i ran out of a power plug in cable when i put the last one in to 7600 GS?

Like the heatpipes shown below. Just tie it to anything on the card.

wow.is that logical? what if the fan cuts a cable and falls in to case lol?

I just used a molex connector. Just make sure when you zip the fan tie up, you cut off any excess plastic that's hanging off.

ok can you advise me a fan please? you know am an ametour when it comes to computing alex..
but i need a one that would drop it from 75 to 55 or even 50..
