vista 6t4 bootmanager oc hang?

whats up guys..
it seems my same successful over clock for my q66 does not work on vista...

im talking same numbers!!! nothing different!!!!! it wont boot..

the boot manager hangs ....

it loads up to the os boot flicker and just hangs,
says extended boot /bootmanager in white text on my screen thats it ..

it never loads..

help? does vista support high clock rates or no?

i tried it at 971 and 1177 i think fsb 3.4 ghz no go...those stats should not matter anyway because this same overclock works on xp and xp 64...vista should support it and then some..

Well, it looks like it doesn't eh?

If you torture tested it then that's a genuine issue but if you just jacked up the numbers to any old values which would boot (more or less what I do) then you stand a risk of something like this happening (i.e. you've got your clock rates at the threshold for decent stability and Vista pushes it over).


Vista does support high clock rates but you've over-overclocked. Drop down 50MHz.

i think my boot manager was corrupt because im at 4 ghz with this new vista business install...im still testing and doing things here for now ..

but what i was saying is this..
3.4ghz cpu clock
971 mhz ram ram clock

the same numbers i used on xp pro 64 to ge that currect clock rate..
does not work on vista home basic 64

now..vista buisness is diffrent..or maybe i just currupted my install..i dont know yet..
seems fishy..

Sounds like a badly configured installation. Maybe you used a non-RTM version of Vista the second time around, for instance, a preintegrated SP1 DVD?

Have you overvolted the memory and CPU. At 3.4ghz, you'll need to, and without it, Vista might not boot.

i don't think so alex..because all i did was drop the clock rate down and it worked same voltages...doesn't matter anyway that problem is now solved with this new install..
the new problems in finding is this ..
one being that windows welcome information is lying to me LOL
it tells me my pc is running at @ 2.4 2.13 ghz

ummm 400x8 = 3200

this my new oc I'm working on ..
cpuz tells me that my pc runs at 2.39 ghz
monitor my pc tells me i run at 3.2 ghz..
asus monitor tells me my pc runs at 2.4 ghz that fluctuates to 3.2...

very odd i don't know what to think of this since its been put into the bios the oc is successful..

Windows programs sometimes don't look at the multiplier and assume it's the default one like mine shown below:



It still thinks it's 9 instead of 8.

What Vcore are you running on that 400mhz FSB and what Vdimm?

this is what i got so far....
400x8 for my multiplier..
which is great because it leaves me with a 1066 nice rounded easy buss speed...
myself i cant complain about 1066 because honestly i see no difference when i was running 1177 or 977 something no difference for me ....

and that matched with these voltages works great for me ..
1.375 vcore
nb 1.55
sb.12
ram 2.1 i think..not sure on that ...


I'm gunna go try and take down the voltages...
those are the same voltages to my successful massive over clock of
485x7 which is about 3.6 ghz or 3.5 i forget LOL

i am installing vista sp1 on vista ultimate now so brb here...

That's the same Vcore i run, but you could probably get away with a 1.45v Northbridge.

To get to 3.5-3.6, you need a lot, lot, lot more voltage usually. We are talking up to 1.5v :|:

Plus, Vdroop can get bad at those speeds and volts.

i had the same voltages with 3.6 on xp..but now i dont know..let me test it with this new install vista ultimate here..
