IE7 problem, maybe?

Sometimes the phising filter in internet explorer 7 popups saying "Phising filter is not turned on. Would you like to turn it on?" Regardless of the option I click, something messes up.

I can't click any of the desktop icons. When I click the start menu, nothing shows up (as if there's no programs installed on my computer) and MSN says I have no contacts. the only way I've figured out how to fix this is by pressing ctrl alt delete, then using the option in the bottom right corner to restart my computer. That's the only way to do it, because clicking the restart button in the start menu doesn't do anything.

I thought I'd uninstall IE7 and then reinstall it, but then I found out you can't uninstall it, or even download it lol

Has anyone else had this problem before, and does anyone know how to fix it?

You can download IE7 over again and it will uninstall IE7 by running that installer and then reinstall it again upon reboot.

Aww... VISTA..

There is no way to reinstall IE7 on Vista. You should try running without Addons and if that doesn't help, use the Advanced Tab to restore IE to default settings.

ok, I disabled add-ons and restored IE to the default settings. We'll see if this does anything.

I'd also like to note that when things mess up and I restart my computer, when I get back to the desktop, the icons on my desktop have moved, as if the resolution was lowered, and then set normal again (exactly what happens when you install a graphics driver)

Actually, this just happened again, and internet explorer wasn't even open. When I tried opening up windows explorer (windows key + E) I got an error that said "The parameter is incorrect." None of the desktop icons worked, nor did the start menu, task bar, or quick launch bar. When I right clicked the desktop, the nvidia control panel didn't show up

This is getting more frequent and more annoying...

firefox wouldn't help his problem as I didn't think before it was with IE but with explorer.exe instead not to mention IE is still gotta be working properly to do windowsupdates over the automatic searches for hardware and software updates.

I also see you have teatimer running from spybot.. I suggest uninstalling spybot, rebooting and when you install it again this time to not add tea timer..its prob real annoying to you and to be honest doesn't help nothing.

If your no longer using symantec or Norton antivirus stuff you need to run the removal tool.

I actually just installed spybot S&D right before I made that post, so the spybot stuff is very recent. I have never had norton or symantec on my PC.

I'm out right now, but when I get home I'll delete those things you told me to.

By the looks of it, could any of those things cause the problems I'm having?
