Wow, I haven't posted here in a long time but...Originally posted by Sniper1432 View PostWow I want one :yay:
After seeing multiple reviews, I feel all the more justified in buying a GTS 512 about a month ago. While I don't blame Nvidia for releasing a product like this, I still don't get good vibes from Nvidia's marketing strategy. Although The performance that they have been able squeeze out the 8/9 series is impressive.
That being said I think people will have to deal for a while till new technology is released. the G200 series out in July seems (too me) to be a extremely liberal estimate. By releasing a product that is be hailed as "next next gen" so close to the already released GX2, Nvidia will virtually doom their brand new GPU to a short death. Sales of the GX2 would be so low not to even warrant the release of the product. looking at Nvidia's past line-up of top-of-the-line cards they have normally given each one about a year of reigning top supreme. Even the 5900 (one of the WORST line to ever be released) had about a years reign.
I think Q1 of '09 would be a better estimate. Q4 of '08 at the earliest.

...and I would probably bet my apartment (and everything in it) that the new cards will not be out in Q3, possibly even Q4.

Part of review from Tomsharware.
IMO its much less impressive than the 9800 GX2, which wasn't that impressive to begin with.
So far Nvidia has been "resting on its laurels," we haven't seen anything truly "next-gen" yet, these are barely any improvement over the current 8 series cards we've got right now.
edit: can someone enlighten me a bit more about the G200's? I seem to be having some trouble finding concrete data on google... maybe I'm just too tired though. lol

Here is what he needs to do:Originally posted by Scinto View Postno you dont, your better off with a 8800GTS 512mb which is all it is.
G200's coming july ish.
Wait till the end of the month or the 1st of May to purchase a nice shinny BFG 9800GTX.... if the new card is released in July then the 100day stepup program kicks in and he can exchange it. But again, wait till at least the end of this month or May before getting one to stay within that "100 Dayish" area to get a step up for free.

with the other cards around the corner in a few months I don't think it will happen till then. However I still see the 8800GTX cards selling used for still around 300$ easy.Originally posted by Alex98ukThe 9800gtx should drop in price at the end of the month.
Tests show it's on par, or slightly above the 8800Ultra in terms of speed.
