    8800GS worth it?

For $120? Or should you save for a 3850 or 9600GT?

I'd say it would depend on the price of the 9600GT, and the price of the 8800GS. Also, what resolution do you play at?

For me, I was going to get an 8800GS for $119, but at the same time, there was a 9600GT for $129, which I chose instead because the price difference was very minimal.

Right now, on that same website, the cheapest 9600GT is $139, and the cheapest 8800GS is $108. If those were the prices at the time when I was looking to buy, I would have probably went with the 8800GS because my budget was very limited.

I think the 8800GS is equal to the 3850, and the 9600GT is equal to, or just under the 3870

1280*1024. Price differences of <25 dollars probably won't make too big of a difference of me.

If the price difference isn't an issue, then I recommend the 9600GT

          Thanks for your help.

I can't seem to find any 9600GTs under 150 though, so I might get an 8800GS. for 110 maybe?

Its also a good idea to watch fatwallet (do a search for what you want and then organize by date) and slickdeals. Both are excellent places to watch for deals.

Also, personally I would suggest you shell out another couple bucks and get an 8800GT instead There's a XFX 8800GT on sale for $160 at zipzoomfly (just saw it on slickdeals). Its a bit more in price, but I think its worth it, especially since I paid $200 for mine a month ago.

9600GT isnt far off the 8800GT for the price.

I can't keep track of all these 8 and 9 series cards now, lol. Which is better performance wise? 9600GT or 8800GT?

Spec wise the 8800GT is better looking at the charts on the nvidia site

I think the XFX 8800GT doesn't have a fan speed controller. if it's true, just keep in mind it'll be running at 100% all the time
