Laptop: Yes or No?

I'm waiting for the 8.9" one ot be released this summer much better hardware in it too and only £300 (prolly $500) or you could get either the 4GB or 2GB 7" models currently which are $400 and $300 respectively.

I am too, ~£300 and apparently the first wave will be shipped to a few countries mid march.
I might wait to see if an eee with an intel Atom is announced shortly after the 900 but i would probably just go for the 900.

I would've got a 701 but the resolution jsut wasn't big enough.
Are you after the XP 8GB or Linux 12GB, both will be ~£300, TBH linux is the obvious choice.

I would say take both your desktop (for gaming/work when in your room) and a cheap laptop for use out and about or whilst on the move in the room/building (if wireless is avaliable)

That is kinda what I was thinking, and wireless is almost everywhere.

However, some people say different.

Theres no reason to get a gaming laptop,you have a desktop for that.

^ exactly, Impl's suggestion sounds good, why not take both one for ur dorm room and one on the go seems like the best plan, unless its like my situation where u live 6hrs(by air) away from ur uni and have to ship ur desk lol i know ur not in the same situation. :)
