PC vs MAC - all personal preference or...?

Ive done some digging on the net, and Ive found that pretty much all myths in favour of PC have been debunked. Im too used to Windows and Im an experienced user enough to not to get in trouble with computers, but are MACs really passing PCs in terms of user comfortability, price and efficiency? Id like some facts, or arguments based on experience. Thanks.

The main reasons against Macs are the price and the compatibility issues. Firstly, a Mac with similar specs to a desktop PC costs a lot more usually since there is no similar competition.

Secondly, if you want to run Windows, you will have to dual boot with Bootcamp. This means then buying a legitimate version of XP or Vista which costs even more. I'm not sure whether there are any performance penalties when using bootcamp, but i can't see it would run as fast as a PC.

i have never used a mac.. all i really know about them is for the price of a mac u could normaly build ur own pc that will leave it for dust in performance.. however for me this is just another prefrence matter.. some people preffer mac and some preffer Pc.. it all comes down to what u need out of ur computer and which one fills those needs..

however i am yet to see a pc that looks better than a mac.. their soo pwetty!! :p

As stated before the number one thing is cost. You can get a much better performing PC for the price of a Mac. For graphic design I wouldn't use anything but a Mac. They are great for that field. But for games, my camp stays with Windows.

My girlfriend owns a macbook, and while its overall design is very attractive I find it difficult to use. It may be that I am so accustomed to windows, but it feels like they have dumbed down the OS. I know my girlfriend loves it though, so for a given user demographic a mac is definitely better than a PC regardless of price. (She really hates using PC's)

I don't have a problem with macs, I have an old eMac. However, many of the people who own those macs is what annoys me.

I personally use the MacBook pro for work, such as typing, photoshop etc. I love it compared to my massive 19" widescreen gaming laptop.

I have to use a Mac at school for a digital graphics intro class, and honestly I don't see how Macs are more efficient... Maybe if I used it more I would find out, I don't know.

I still haven't used a mac before. Even in my CAD class at school, we use c2d PCs

Actually for a laptop, I say the performance it gives is incredible, but compared to the **** the people on the forum flaunt, yeah, its epic phail.
