    i use this;

    With the free K-Lite Codec Pack from codecpackguide.com you can play all audio and video files there are. You can even encode your own audio and video files.

      A lot of people will hit me with sticks for saying this, but in my opinion Windows Media Player is the best for straight forward media playback. It has an excellent library system and is compatible with nearly all media devices such as MP3 players and can sychronise with them.

      Second, i'd say WinAMP. It's just ok in my opinion. The amount of plugins are vast, and support is excellent. However, it's a little too complicated, and it's still a bit rough at the edges IMO.

      Lastly, for video playback, nothing beats VLC player. It will play any format you can throw at it :)

      If you get WMP, make sure to download the K-Lite Codec pack all round codec coverage.

          That'll probably be media things your graphics card does. I remember my 8800gts tried to add funky smoothing effects and it made everything purple. I just fiddled around for a bit, turned it off and it's all good.

            The WMP is my favorite too. But another good alternative, beside VLC and the Media Player Classic is the BS Player.

                I use itunes only cause of my ipod..
                I would be using Windows Media Player otherwise.

                I use VLC and WMP for videos.

                      I have an ipod so I use iTunes. Never had any problems. I like it well enough.
