    windows update problem?

this is weird and i just came across it today. i was looking through my add/remove programs and i noticed that there were only 2 things under Windows XP Software Updates: Security Update For Windows XP (KB913433) and Windows Imaging Component. That's it.

I checked iwth a friend and another computer and they seem to have at least 10+ things under that category, mainly Security updates and i checked windows update and it coudltn find any new updates for me. so anyone know wats going on? (ps i wanna know cuz i need to uninstall some windows fix for HT/duo core CPUs so i can do some benchmarks but now i dont even know if i instlled them)

are you asking why your friend has different updates than your computer does?

All computers are different and thus require different updates....the detection is based on the system and its issues that need resolved or updated.

Well, if I were you I'd just not bother. You might have another WinXP version, you might have some hidden updates, there might be something else.

you could always go to microsoft.com and check windows updates there.

to see what updates you have run systeminfo from a command prompt.

I had a problem once where I couldn't update xp. turns out I somehow had a corrupt 'certificate' and it wouldn't validate any updates. I had to reinstall xp.
