Vista users help please

Well I have had vista on my PC for about 3 weeks. I made a thread before about how vista is constantly making my HD run. It makes my light on my antec 900 stay a constant solid blue and it's driving me mad. People have told me that it goes away in time but it hasn't. I asked others about this problem and they say it doesn't happen with them I'm just very confused why my HD light is constantly active. :|:

3 gigs DDR2
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+
8800 GTS 320mb
Vista Ultimate 64 bit

I'm not entirely sure, but maybe it's indexing your hard drive for faster searching? I was told that this happens for a while when you first install vista

Yeah that's what I was told as well....But it's been almost a month. I even did that indexing fix in the CP but no luck.

If you built your computer... did you plug the HD light cord into the Power light socket?

what does device manager say? Any missing drivers for devices?

Also are you using SP1 or no?

I'm also assuming your PSU is powerful enough to sustain the draw no so much as in watts but rails to various locations throughout the system?

It's not going to go away altogether. The drive usage is going to dimininish as time goes by.

It's superfetch loading **** into RAM. This will take time. The more RAM you have, the more time.

Open Task Manager and look at the memory usage, you'll notice that "cached" slowly expands until it fills up RAM - then the chugging stops.

If you want it to feel like XP (and possibly lose out on some speed) then disable the superfetch service.

I turn off superfetch... I don't forget where files are at so no need to search for them.

I believe I have only 10 processes that start up when any of my computers are turned on.
