good news i have successfully mass overclocked my new system ..with what i think is ok temps..
screen below shows stressing and the max load on it with heat...

it runs at 30 to 31 c (regularly) for the cpu on oc here...
mass load is the pic below...

Follow what i said in my PM, regarding running two instances to stress all 4 cores. Also, use Coretemp or Intel Thermal Analysis Tool for more accurate readouts.

That's a good overclock, how much did you raise the Vcore, if at all? You really need to run Orthos for 8 hours or so overnight to ensure it's fully stable (don't like BSOD's now do we )

You could try and go further, or you could try dropping the multiplier and achieving a higher front side bus. But, this is when it gets tricky as your overclocking your memory further and it may need overvolting as well as the northbridge.

and thank you i need those programs with them id be screwed on knowing what is what really..
from the bios to anything i have used it always tels me some fregin off beat numbers..in fact most programs are telling me i got 800 speed ram and the bios clearly shows its at 1066 or above...

Maximum of 60c on load.

Just, run the two instances of Orthos and use something like Coretemp to measure the temps.

You could go for a higher front side bus, but since the mutliplier is already low, you might need to overvolt the northbridge if it's unstable. But, good temps anyway

If you want to stress it to the absolute max, download Intel Thermal Analysis Tool, and that will find the highest temperature on load.

just finished installing vista..maybe this will fix my stability issues with xp 64 and this processor...this is not recognizing my all my ram..only 3.25 gigs of it ..ya know what that is about alex?

32bit Windows can only recognise up to around 3.2gb of RAM. To see, and allow the computer to use the rest, you should use 64bit.

yes the 8600 is the cheapest part in this setup...my bottleneck..

orderd a sata drive to fix ide bottleneck 2...sata 3.0 16 meg cache 7200 rpm nt bad..could be faster but..60 bucks is good deal 350 gigs..

core 780 shader 2000 memory 990 45c game heat
desktop np apps 35c
woo hoo

i think i can probably go more...not sure yet...this seems great...
2142 max with 4 aa 90 fps

before with stock oc clocks since this is a oc stock card i was at 70fps same setup..but i was at 40c heat in game and 34c on desktop no apps

If you're at full resolution on the highest settings you don't need to go beyone 60-70 FPS.

right and in return that makes since because regular tv is only at 40 something fps sec or so..thats like saying i need a 0 ping when i see no diffrence in a ping of 60 or 0...

um... fps and ping are not the same.
You can tell the difference in frames per second up until around 60 FPS, after that your brain+eye cannot physically track anything.

You can tell the difference between lower fps though.

All I'm saying is that once you've hit 60-70 FPS there's no need to go higher by overclocking or any other method.

my new overclock is now at 4ghz yay ON AIR...just an update for everyone here..
sadly i cant get vista to run stable at it so i have to use 3.7 or it falters..
this runs amazing compared to 2.4 ghz retail clock...dramatic diffrence in everything period!!
other thoughts is this..since im on vista 32, im gunna try the 64 bit vista version with the clock..
funny thing is this, on xp it works at 4ghz ..it runs at 105 degrees idle thoe...
thats not 105C btw..
now that my new tuniq has ben sitting on the processor a while it cools much much better ... room temp is 85 to 90
THATS RIGHT 4GHZ ON AIR 1.375 or 1.4 v i forget...anyways cheers...

Nah, he's saying he can't tell the diff between 0 and 60 ping, just like he can't tell super high framerates from each other.
