How are these?

I've found a few psu that are in my budget, have the right wattage, and are familiar brands. It will have to support my system specs but an 8800gs instead of 8600gt

I know some are less than 500 watts, but nvidia says the power requirement for the 8800GTS G92 and the old version is 400 watts. they don't have any information on the 8800GS, but it's not as good as the GTS, so I'm assuming its requirements are the same, or lower.

I would suggest going with at least the 500 watt to be on the safe side, higher might be better too. That way the next time you upgrade, you won't have to get a new PSU again.

A PSU is NOT the place to skimp for cost on a system. It can make or break an entire setup. Those are all respectable brands though. I'd go for at least the 500 for a safety factor.

Yay! Finally someone who's done their research and hasn't gone for some Yumcha 1500 jigawatts PSU or something of that kind.

The 500watt one would seem fine, but I'd check further; such as the amperage on the rails and the efficiency of it.

All right, I looked up more about the Coolermaster 500W one. It didn't have detailed specs on tiger direct so I looked it up in newegg and I THINK I've found the same one.

It's the only 500W PSU listed on newegg, and only one listed on tigerdirect that's made by Coolermaster, and the name's match up a bit. On newegg it says "+3.3V@20A,+5V@20A,+12V1@16A,+12V2@16A, -12V@0.8A, +5VSB@2.0A"

so, 16 amps? is that good? The efficiency is >70% usually

It seems good, but 32A on the +12V rails may be a bit shy of what you need. I'm not a real professional at these parts but I can tell you that the Antec TP3 550W gives you this kind of output:

+3.3V@24.0A, +5V@24.0A, +12V1@18.0A, +12V2@18.0A, +12V3@18.0A, -12V@0.8A, +5VSB@3.0A

This gives you a total of 54.0A on the +12V rails.

Well, I've decided to get the 8800GS 384mb. And, instead of the power supplies mentioned above, I have decided to get the OCZ 600W StealthXStream. It has four +12V rails each one with 18A, so 72A in total. It also has 2 PCI-E connectors for SLI (Even though I don't even have a SLI mobo, I may have one in the future) and 3 SATA connectors. It also has 80% efficiency.

So, anyone wanna buy an 8600GT? :p

thanks . it'll be a nice upgrade. It's double, and sometimes triple the power of my 8600, and it costs the same as my 8600 was when I first got it lol
