limtied isp do suck. in the uk only one that isnt is Virgin but if you use too much your speed gets throtled for a couple hours. thats mines and too be honest i dont notice.

Actually the best main stream ISP is AOL. They are the only ones not to throttle speeds or bandwidth. You just have to get rid of the awful browser and software.

Obviously there are other good, more "local" ISP's such as Zen which are meant to rock the socks.

i had 21 gb per month 7gb peak and 14gb off peak.. its useless.. i use it in less than a week.. and i havent even started to download movies, music, games, programs etc.. im switching to 150 gb month with 40 gbpeak and 110 off peak... and im still sceptical as to wether its enough.. ud be suprised how much download u actually use..

5 gb would not last long at all.. but is ok for just email and web browsing..

EDIT: i just realized i got 40mb left until they cap me back to 56kbps speed i wonder what ill spend my 40mb on

Whats with these limited services. I have a constant 10mb/s connection at home and T3 at school. No limits. As do all my neighbors and friends. Comcast and WOW are the main providers in the Detroit, MI area.

Here, I need to pay about US$85 a month for just 150kb/s and a 30GB download limit each month; and all that is considered a pretty average/good deal around here.

I sure do take it for granted. Heck, I never even knew about GB caps. that they put you on. How does a family of four who are avid computer uses survive? :shock:

That's what catches alot of people here in Australia as well. Those that don't properly read the fine print before submitting themselves get lured into a 24 month contract with huge fees for early termination thinking that it's really unlimited.

It's labelled as "unlimited" but would most likely throttle your speed down after 10GB of downloads. We're still waiting for "truly unlimited" plans here but that's probably never going to happen.

Four computers on it, two of us are very heavy downloaders, my usage this month is 25GB both ways (45GB last month) the other PC downloads about the same and two that just do web/email - never had a warning, never had speeds cut (apart from doppy sods who cut the wrong wire when "working" ) and get speeds of around 1MB steady. :nod:

If it’s felt that any Be member’s Internet activities are so excessive that other members are detrimentally affected, Be may give the member generating the excessive web traffic a written warning (by email or otherwise). In extreme circumstances, should the levels of activity not immediately decrease after the warning, Be may terminate that member’s services.
