How much is 5 gigs?

I plan on using an at&t laptop internet card (link) over Spring Break, but there's a limit of 5 gigs of data transfer per month on it. The guy at the store told me that's about 16hrs/day browsing.

My questions are:
1) Is it even plausible to use this for gaming? Have you tried this yourself?
2) If it could be used for gaming, about how much data transfer/hour would a game like BF2 or CoD4 use?

You will most likey use it in a week, depends on how long you game for and if its with VOIP.

you would be better off staying somewhere that had free wireless, or if you had to - find a wifi hotspot to check your mail, etc.

I doubt cellular internet would work well for gaming.

what to do is get a program that measure the amount of data u recive.

run it for a day and use your pc as norm. that way you know on average how much you use in a day and will give u an idea if you will go over it.

im sorry i dont know a program that does it i would look but honestly im too drunk.

Except you'll often find that it's unlimited as long as you don't download more than xGB per month.

Whats with these limited services. I have a constant 10mb/s connection at home and T3 at school. No limits. As do all my neighbors and friends. Comcast and WOW are the main providers in the Detroit, MI area.

Well, I myself am on an 30GB/month plan and I can tell you that if you download alot of gaming files (trailers, patches, demos and the like) that 5GB will go down in a week.

I do have a download meter that monitors my downloads on daily/monthly basis. Playing some online games (BF2/COD4) sets me back about 350MB/day. Mine might be a bit inflated cause I share my connection over 3 computers which are also used daily to go online.

Basically, on these kinds of plans, you have to restrict yourself ... and only download what is necessary.
