Does anyone use Ubuntu?

I just obtained a livecd for Ubuntu to try it out and I have to admit, it looks nice. But, I could not really see any reason to use it over Vista. I am perfectly willing to give it a partition, but I can't really justify messing with a system that works on a COMPLETE whim.

Does anyone have any comments on Ubuntu/Linux in general? I poked around on the ubuntu forums and IRC channel, but they are filled with fanboys.

Also, please don't turn this into an OS war. This is a question about the benefits of ONE operating system, not an argument about which one is best.

Windows XP for me. I've had experience with Linux/Redhat but I didn't see any real performance or stability gain so i said screw it. My XP doesn't crash... I know it's hard to believe.

I have ubuntu partioned on my laptop along with windows XP Pro, but hardly really ever use it.

I prefer windows! on my main system I run with Vista Ultimate and it run pretty well .

Ubuntu is faster and more stable, it's great for general browsing etc. You can get software for almost all specialist tasks for free for it. It's more secure, there are no viruses for it in the 'wild'. I's more customizable.

It's retardified. Like a Mac. Hard to explain, but you get the drift. SUSE because it behaves like Windows and it's easy to use, configure, do command line crap, and comes more or less exactly how I want it.

Ubuntu is fun to mess with and its definitely a good product. if I didnt game and wasnt so use to windows I would use it more.

its a great choice if you need a free OS.

recently I copied the ubuntu 7.10 live cd to my spare 1gig flash drive and I boot from that. its way better than running it from cd. no cd lag and like 3x faster.

ps. I tried out suse before and really tried to like it but it just wasnt for me. ubuntu seems much easier and more polished.
