extremely hi ping

can anyone tell me why i have such a high ping level while playing bf2? my lag is rediculous.
hardware:
Windows xp
****ty dell mother board
dual core 1.6
4gig pc800 ddr2 gskills ram
600v sli power supply
nvidia 8800 gt oc
350 gig hd

i use road runner for my internet (100mbps). and this is the only game i have a problem playing online. the only deduction that i havent eliminated is i use 6ft of a 15ft ethernet cable... might this be the problem?

Is it on all servers, or just one? What continent are you located on?

Roadrunner is in United States, only location I can put a finger on is the NY and NJ area.
It is not your cable if your ping is good in other games, just simply shut down your computer, unplug everything for a minute or so, plug it back and turn your computer on. If the problem keeps going just reinstall.

I am having this same problem. My ping was always fine but now its like 150-500 on all servers and I can't play. Can anyone tell me what's wrong?

are you sure that's not just the fastest speed of your network hardware, and not your isp download speed.

Yea, that sounds like a 100 megabit ethernet socket, not your actual download speed.

regardless BF2shouldnt be lagging. If there is a couple of you having issues then maybes its something to do with the EA master servers (as always). Go to their forums and see if others have been having the same problem.
