PSU or Overheating Issue?

Yea another molex for a cooler isn't going to be the thing that pushes you over the edge. The power draw from a fan is almost negligible. Your first step is a new PSU. It might cost some money but it's a good possibility. And if you ever think of upgrading in the future you'd need it anyways.

Whilst it ultimately could be caused by the power supply, warranting me buying a new one, I don't really want to shell out £70-80 for a new one if that won't sort it. I'm rather short on money, and losing £70-80 would hurt my bank balance a lot, especially as I am trying to keep as much in there for Uni and stuff of that sort.

I want to rule out every possibility before I pay anything.

Same thing happened to me a few weeks back.
I fixed it by uninstalling all my nvidia drivers, and any graphics driver. Then when I restarted I booted in Safe mode, and reinstalled my drivers. When I went back to play I had no problems again. I did notice that certain settings for my nvidia panel caused the lines to come up though, so I am running on balanced right now, and everything runs perfect.

Drivers... Hmm, I never thought of that. When you uninstalled I am presuming you used Driver Cleaner. Did you reinstall the same drivers or use newer drivers?

I went to the Nvidia website and downloaded the current version, being that the version I had could have been corrupt. Yes, use the Driver cleaner application, then do what I stated, see how it does.

I was looking forward to responding with a "I managed the 30 minute stress test" post. But unfortunately, it lasted around 25 minutes in Bioshock before resorting to crashing.

Artifacts Heyo!!! If you updated your drivers I can't see any other problem other than hardware.

I called up, they suggested and RMA.

I requested RMA and it has now been accepted for RMA, packaging it up right now.

Luckily I hadn't sold my 7900GS.

Anyway, to fill you guys in on what has been going on since.

When they tested my video card they found no problems at all, they tested for 5 hours and found nothing wrong. So they returned me my video card. However, within 10 minutes of playing Bioshock, my computer crashed. Exactly the same as before.

I also tried putting it in my dad's PC, no problems at all. Survived 2 hours of testing. Back in my PC, and it crashed again.

All I can think is that it is definately something not to do with the video card.

I dont know how computer savy you are, but you may think of updating your system BIOS.

If it was your CPU you would be having issues in other things.
You seem to have proper cooling and no real overheating.
The card works in other machines, so you know its not a card issue.

Also, some mentioned upgrading your power supply unit. If you have less than 500 watts, you probably should.
