CPU Temp a little too high?

Let me please note that my CPU has never been overclocked.

With that out of the way let me present this picture to you.



I don't know much about how high a temperature on your proccesor should be. But I do have a lot of experience and I have a feeling that those temps are a little too high. So are my temps too high? Please facts not opinions :)

Second if my temps are too high can that affect the performance of my PC?

Most importantly if my temps are too high is there a way I can fix this?
(Well I guess that's a no brainer buy a new cooling fan! But the thing is I just bought this computer in november so the CPU cooling fan / heatsink should be having no problems. And if I am correct this CPU cooling system was made from the ground up for my type of proccesor.)

If those are idle temps (like they seem to be) then they are high, but not dangerously so. Try Thermal Analysis Tool from Intel (google it) and put the cores under load.

The thing is that if this processor of yours will reach over 70C it will decrease the frequency thus lowering the performance. The high temps in themselves do not affect performance, but they definately affect the processor longevity. It's not very healthy on materiel used in processors to heat up to 70 and then cool down to room temps over and over again.

Also clean the dust from the heatsink (preferably buy canned air to do that) . It will work miracles on your temps bringing them down to under 40C range.

If that does not help then buy some good thermal paste, remove the heatsink, wipe the old stuff way, apply the new thermal paste and put the heatsink back. Make sure it's tight.
