Fitting DuOrbs

Putting these on my 3870's to lower my temps from boiling point

Now in 3 corners ive a small gap between the copper fins and the stock ramsinks, but in the last its just touching the stock ramsinks, is it still alright?

nope, cant get a clear enough picture, put it this way i can slip a piece of paper easily between the fin and the ramsinks on the other 3 corners, but not on the 4th,

i know it was going to be a tight fit anyways, but i dont partitularly want to remove the stock ramsinks,

I couldn't find what a DuOrb was....

But, from what you say, I was under the impression for optimal cooling you had to remove the stock ones... it doesn't make sense

you can leave the stock ones on its just a bit of a tight fit,

getting a good contact so i assume it will be fine

Why are you worried about taking off the stock heatsinks?

Bah, you would void it, but if you put them back on if RMA'ing, they wouldn't notice.

I would be slightly worried about not having a secure fit on one of the heatsinks, especially if your going to be overclocking the memory, or it's naturally clocked highly.

its a ***** to remove the stock ramsinks it has that stupid sticky tape crap,,

well its all tightend nicely apart from that touching bit but ill see how its like later, ive to go out,

After a day of gaming my cards would hit 90*C load :|: while idleing at around 70*C

Now with the DuOrbs on they're idleing at 37*C

What overclock if any did you have on your HD3870's to get those temps!?!? I get about 54 idling and about 65 in game...

from moving them from the antec 900 to the kandalf their idle temps increased because it doesnt have good enough airflow mainly because its a case for watercooling, but i couldnt clock them with idle temps around the 70*C's as it would probably melt..

I have no airflow in my case lol....The side is off because i have no case fans..saving up for new case..preferrably the new antec 1200 when it comes out...

Scinto your 3870's shouldnt be running that hot mate!But i guess the duo's solved that.
