Finished computer build, but there are a few minor problems.

I finished up my first computer build for my brother about a month ago. Its a nice q6600 with a cm690 case and 680i lt mobo, and a 19" LG. It boots up normally, works like a computer should, but there are a few annoying little problems right now that i cant seem to fix.

1) Cant get the boot menu to go away. Everytime the computer powers on, you have to press F1 to continue, even though we have windows installed and everything. I'd prefer it if it booted straight to windows. SOLVED

2) An error comes up when the desktop shows up. I cant get the exact error now (maybe later), but the error says its missing some file of some sort.

Could not load the file assembly 'MOM.IMPLEMENTATION, Version = 2.0.2895.26680, Culture = Neutral, PublicKeyToken = 90ba9c70f846762e or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

3) Cant setup surround sound. We got a Logitech X-530 surround sound setup, 2 front speakers + sub works fine, but center and rear speakers dont work. I doubt they're broken, i just dont know how to properly set them up. All ive done is set it to "5.1" in control panel, but when listening to music or playing games, only 3/6 speakers work. SOLVED

Any solutions will be greatly appreciated.

1) Once windows is installed press Delete key to get to BIOS and go to Boot and change the Boot priority from Cd/dvd drive to hdd where windows is loaded...

1. Are there any messages that appear? If not there should be an option in the boot menu for a 'quiet' boot? If no luck find out what the bios is and look it up on the net.

2. When you find out what the file is download it?

3. Make sure all speakers have power, install the correct audio drivers, and plug them all (the speakers) in :).

3)have you installed the realtek audio control panel? that broke surround sound for my friend, he un-installed and solved the problem.

For some reason i had a realtek driver installed, so i uninstalled it. Now i have no sound :laugh:. Plus, how do i know which driver i need anyway? It was already on when we put windows on the pc. Now in dxdiag, nothing comes up in the "Sound" tab.

the MOM thing is to do with the ATI catylist control panel.

i assume you have a ati card,i say that as i have MOM.exe running in my task manager it has something to do with my ati driver 99%sure of that.

you should make sure you have net framwork 2.0 installed on you're system as ati control panel will not work properly with out it.

make sure all youre chipset drivers and sound drivers are up to date and you have the correct wires plugged in to the soundcard,i only use line in(green) and mic(pink) but i belive for surround sound there are black and blue fittings that need to be in the correct order.


as for the boot up thing check you mobo manual there maybe a option in the bios to disable/enable fast boot or some other setting.(i could be wrong as im not quite sure what you mean with that problem.

for you boot prob if its asking for you to press F1 it usually means its looking for something you dont have, the funiest one is "No keyboard detected press F1 to continue". Now this is a guess but i would assume since its a new rig you didnt bother with a floppy drive? check in the bios that it isnt looking for one. it should tell you what its not seeing when your told to press F1 but.

Yes exactly. No floppy. And it does say "floppy disk fail." Ok so how do i "check the bios that it isnt looking for one"?

Go to BIOS, find the standard CMOS setup menu where are all the disk drives listed and their modes (auto, none, setup). There's an item/option where it says that if you have 5,25 Floppy. Turn it to Disabled.

Sorry for the quite bad instructions, but it's quite evident when you find the correct place.

about the audio, i meant the control panel not the audio driver, my friend had installed the control panel which broke the surround sound so he rolled back.

It worked, it boots straight to desktop. Thank you for the help.

I still get the error and no surround sound, though. And we never installed an audio control panel, so that can't be the problem impl. We got the driver back and sound works, just not surround.

download driver cleaner pro from guru3d and uninstall all ati drivers,

then get the latest 8.1 catylist (45mb) make sure you have .net framwork 1.1 and 2.0 installed ,then install the 8.1 cat drivers,after you restart ,and desktop is loaded...

hit ctrl.atl.del and look in task manager for the process MOM.exe if that's running it should be fine.
