Coming from a cheap 600dpi optical mouse to this 1800dpi laser is a world of change. It's so smooth and responsive... I don't even have words. Can't even image the 4000dpi lachesis.
That "bs" about 60 inches per second of acceleration actually does mean something. I'd never noticed before, but I move faster than my old mouse could keep up and was actually losing movement as my hand moved enough for 7 screen inches, but the cursor only moved 6 inches. This had always made aiming at enemies on the far left and right hard, now it's far easier since you know your cursor is always moving how you want it no matter how fast.
And the smoothness of the dpi increase is really great for making long range shots and selection pin-point units in my RTS games. With the old mouse I'd have Windows turn the sensitivity up to make it faster, but this cause the mouse to move in blocky motions since it was simply amplifying the original 600dpi to mock the speed of 1200dpi. For example, it would see a movement of 5 pixels and move 10 pixels on the screen, it was very imprecise. No problem with that any more. No more try to aim from neck to head and ending up aiming above the enemy =D
Plus the feel is so luxurious. A nice rubberized coating, depressions on the buttons for your fingers, and non slip rails along the side.
Only complaints: middle mouse button is stiff to press and the forward button on the right (ring finger button) can be hard to get too if you like having your hand placed forward on the mouse.
