Right now I'm getting an Athlon 64 X2 (correct me if I'm wrong but that is better than the FX right??). Now I'm deciding on a motherboard. I have it down to 2. An Asus and a Gigabyte

You need an Intel CPU. Cheaper, faster, better overclockers.

I'm sure a 3.6ghz Extreme Pentium 4 could play, you still wouldn't buy it.

Now, you'd buy a Core 2 Duo because it's such a better deal.

Yep, Intel Core 2 Duo is the way to go for best bang for the buck. You get a really fast and efficient processor for a few hundred dollars

I've heard both sides, just as many people hate AMD as much as people hate Intel. This the 6400+ was built for over clocking, some say that's what the "+" is for.

I'm sure it was built for overclocking, but nothing can really compare to the Core 2 Duo models atm.

Back in the Pentium days, the Athlon's were king. But Intel's new CPU's are really the best in terms of price:speed ratio.

My E6600 (one of the early models) was 2.6ghz at stock, and is currently doing 3.4ghz. One a watercooled setup, they will do 3.6ghz - 4.0ghz.

AMD's new Phenom CPU's simply can't match Intel's at the moment, so, by going AMD now, your wasting a lot of money.

I'm sure people will back me up on this.

Yep, you'd have to be mad, or just a really stubborn fanboy to buy an AMD at the moment. C2D just rips seven shades of s**t out of them. I challenge you to find one comparison or review from a reputable source that says otherwise.

The best way to do this is to ask the people themselves. And all of the cust. reviews say that AMD is better, it is also cheaper. The new C2D cost like $1,200

The new Core 2 Duo does not cost £600/$1200 unless your buying the ultimate flagship chip.

Here is a list of three Intel CPU's that will bend an AMD over and spank it silly:

I'll quickly quote the conclusion about the Athlon series from this months Custom PC Magazine:

In the six competition categories, the Core 2 Duo won all of them!

The best way to do this is to ask the people themselves.

The average user does not do loads of benchmarks and rarely has two computers with competeing chips in, most people upgrade from the last generation of chips to the newer one. So i can't see how it could possibly be more reliable than thorough reviews from good sources.

Ok AMD words were "we blew it" they went a diffrent route than intel and took a lot longer to devlope there new range and didnt get the results they wanted.

So why would any one buy a processor from a company that openly admits theres is worse?
