Q6600 + 680i + 2GB PC6400 for $399

thinking budget here, but if you add an 8600GT ($100), a $60 case, an $80 PSU, and an $80 250GB HDD you've got a pretty decent, upgradable PC for like $720, but even less if you reuse parts from older computers

is this deal any good, or can you get this stuff cheaper else where?

I don't understand why it's not for gaming. those parts are a lot better than what I have, and I can pretty much max out everything except crysis

780i has been upgraded from the 680i--for most practical purposes--with a nicer sticker.

q6600 will be just fine for the next two years. the 45nm cpus are faster and more efficient, but for folks who have price as a major factor, a q6600 (hopefully B0) would be awesome. if it's a B0, you're down under 95W if i recall right.

agree w/you on ram issue. Vista does suck...up a lot of memory resources.

if i was shopping for a pc right now, i'd buy it and a 8800gt (maybe an hd3870 if i could find another monster deal) +1 gb and drop it in my case tomorrow :)

anyone know if nVidia has bios-fixed the issue with some 45nm cpu's in 680i boards? i read some were working and others were not about a month ago.
