The magical dissapearing optical drive!

I installed a programme called AnyDVD (which i had used a lot when i was running xp, it's a programme that removes any regions associated with DVDs) onto my x64 vista. AVG identified the programme as a virus for some reason, i just clicked the ignore button as it was the same installation file as i'd used before and i know it was virus free. Anyway, i got a bit fed up of the virus warnings so i uninstalled AnyDVD. My computer now no longer sees my DVDRW drive (the only optical i have) or any virtual drives created by daemon. I have XP still on my other hard disc, and when i boot into that all is well, so it has to be a software issue.

Any suggestions?

Reinstall CD driver and daemon?

The drivers are the default ones in windows though, not some special ones by Sony. Does anyone know how i can get a hold of the installer?

Reinstall SPTD drivers. Also, uninstall all of the drives in the screenshot (as in right-click, uninstall, not remove physically from PC) and restart, then right click and hit "Scan for hardware changes".

Cheers for the suggestion, but it hasn't seemed to have done the trick. I reinstalled the SPTD drivers from http://www.duplexsecure.com/home, and uninstalled the drives.

man sounds like your os is messed. Play around in the device manager a little more. If you still can't fix it sounds like it might be time to reload your os.
