COD4 Problem

Here's the deal. I start up COD4, mp or sp, and I get like 2 or 3 minutes into the map and the screen just turns blue for no reason. I then have to restart my computer. I tried uninstalling like every game I don't play, the only games I have now are BF2 and AA. I have a NVidia GeForce 6600 vid card, that should do it. I have enough RAM and space too. I don't know what's wrong. Firewalls aren't a problem because I fixed those too, and I fixed my internet connection too.

Any help?

I think your problem is a BSOD (Blue Screen OF Death)

It is never easy to discover what's causing BSOD's but its usually due to something under performing or overheating.

Check your GFX temperatures and CPU temperatures.

The GFX card should be around 40 deg c idling but i am no sure about the CPU

If it is a stop error you should get an error code displayed along with the text, try searching google with that code and see what comes up.

Maybe some other players have had the same problem!

Yup, you need to get a hold of that code on the blue screen and post it here.

If it just quickly turns blue, and restarts quickly, you need to boot into windows, and somewhere in control panel, there is an option to "disable automatic reboot". I believe it's in something like "error reporting".

There's no message. The screen just turns blue. It doesn't restart or reboot automatically either, just turns blue and stays blue. The temperatures seem fine to. Think I need a new video card?

Try turning on crash logging. So, when it does that, it should dump error messages into a text file somewhere.

I can't remember how exactly to do it though...

Sounds like you might have a trojan/virus. Do some scans. Also try reinstalling COD. If that fails it's a temp problem.

When my computer starts up again and I get into my account it does say something like: Your computer has just recovered from a serious problem, and it has been recorded. Could it be that, and if so, should I search for it?
