8800GT Done for?

Well i got a 8800GT for christmas and installed it today along with my 650W Trio power PSU. Well, all was good, I cranked the fan speed to 100% everytime i played a game as reccomened, and was playing for about 3-5 hours traight (Addicted) and was playing some TF2 then i hear a noise similar to putting a card in your rear bicycle spoke when you were young. This noise only happens when it rises above 50%..... Is it time to send it back to BFG ALREADY??? It's a bfg 8800GT 512mb OC. Quick help whould be appreciated..

Also, there doesn't seam to be any binding or any cords messing with the fan... sigh...

Sounds like the fan motor may have gone kaput.

Ive heard a similar story with another bfg 8800gt

check that OC sticker on the fan hasnt been sucked into the cooler

you could always just get an aftermarket fan for it. If not its time to contact BFG and hope they have good customer service.

yes they does Consript. Thank god.. Do you think running the fan 100% for like 5 hours killed it? it's now just sounding kind of sratchy but not as bad... I don't feel like waiting as i already waited a week so im just gonna use it till it really bites the dust... I'm only running at 80% Now though...

Meh, every piece of hardware has it's faults. Luckily i have only ever had 3 hard disks go in the 2 years i have had my own computer :p

No, it's someone that ran what they bought beyond the manufacturer's specification. There is little need to run a fan at 100%, nVidia™ cards are good to go up to 95*C and somehow I don't think it went anywhere near that high.

Yeah, and I only run my fan at 50%, and my temps never go over 60-65C while playing COD4, CSS, or BF2.

Alright guys, I know there is some serious 8800gt guys around here. But no matter how much you want him to, the logo pictured on the video card does not control your fan speed for you.:)
