Ram Toast?

So, I had my e6300 o/c'd to 3.01 ghz, running perfectly stable for about 3 or 4 days.

I woke up yesterday morning, and my computer was shut off, and would not boot and I would just get a BSOD as soon as Xp started booting.

I messed around for a while and finally realized it was one of my sticks of ram, which I just got for Christmas.

Could I have blown it by o/c'ing it? It is DDR2 800 ram, and I only had it running at 860 mhz..

I can't RMA it because I threw away the packaging, but I managed to reuse some of my Kingston Value ram which is DDR2 667, which I have o/c'd to 750mhz fine.

I'm going to run memtest on it sometime soon to see if it really is bad, but just so that when I eventually get new ram, did my overclocking cause it to go bad? I didn't increase voltages or anything, so I'm not sure what went wrong.

Any information would be helpful.

It might be pushing the ram to far,memory varies.I had my ddr2 533 or w/e running at 286 mhz(slow i know,my gskill ram comes tomorrow)it was only a 20mhz increase but the ram didnt like it.

Since it's DDR2, it does two operations per cycle. So, multiply the mhz by 2 to get the real speed.

ok 40 mhz,ddr2 4200.
But kingston value ram isnt even a overclocking ram.

many people say they overclock with this stuff very easily. So, I thought I would be fine overclocking to 3 ghz.

If i overclock my RAM by just a few MHZ my computer fails to even post... Run those tests and see what comes up.

If you had auto setting for mem voltage when you OCed it then it might have gotten too much current and you're at fault here. But if you had set manually the voltages in BIOS then it was more likely a faulty RAM which just gave up. What brand the mem is? If it's Corsair, Mushkin, OCZ or any other high profile manufacturer those mems can take a little pushing depending on the set and the timings together with speed.

Well, I have the voltages set to manual" and the ram voltages on normal , so I'm thinking its just bad ram.
