Nvidia are obviously worried by ATI's recent show of competitive products and pricing. This card is aimed to compete with the currently dominating Radeon 3850.

lol, I was joking actually- my PSU won't support it, and my case won't take a dual slot card, so the 8600 was the best I could get, especially considering my limited budget. I'll juet wait until June.

I would say: The best bang for buck ftw!

It does not pay off to be a fan boy in the long run. I used to be enamored with AMD because Athlon beat the sh1t out of Intel. I used to loooove ATI because a while back they were offering very much better value with their cards than nvidia did. I've been changing manufacturer to whoever is on top at that moment. If Matrox would field a killer card I would gladly buy it.

Do not all you youngsters out there take offence about what I'm saying here. I know you all are really excited about the first time you get some good hw in to your comp, but! You really should keep ftw remarks to yourself and get a, say 5-10 years and multiple upgrade cycles under your belt, to give you insight and proper perspective ínto the hw business to make you rethink before posting.

Pays off handsomely when you look back in 5-10 years and see that you have refrained shouting out your love on forums and saved the blushes.

Original topic: It's good that there's this card also. nVidia is really milking the graphics card market dry before moving onto 9xxx. And the card was looking pretty ugly. But who cares if it delivers.

Competition is always good. I like Intel and Nvidia better, but do I want AMD to be eliminated from the market? Nope, I don't want either of them to have a monopoly in the CPU/GPU market.

And I still don't see what's so sexy about your red 3870s. :|:

I'd like to see the specs for the 768mb version, too. how much will the GS be? $150?
i like how there's only around a 10 - 20 FPS difference between the GS 384mb and the GT 512mb. even at higher resolutions.

It's based on G92, much less power consumption for performance.

Intel may make great processors but they do buisness in a crude and uncompromising sort of way

You should read up on what Intel did to AMD back in the pentuim 3 days they basically stopped giving stock to suppliers that also sold amd products, so much so that the biggest company asus was terrified to sell too many amd amd duron motherboards incase intel would send them a letter saying their motherboard shipments are delayed

Also they offered dell a discount for every processor if they stayed with intel processors only around 6/7 years ago and thats why dell only had intel processors for so long

I know buisness is not all about chivalry and fair play but when intel cant beat amd with their products they seem do decide to hit below the belt, a bit like when mike tyson bit evander holyfields ear off because he didnt like getting his *** kicked.

BTW thats a palit cooler on the 8800gs, palit rarely ever use the nvidia stock one asus and xfx boards will likely come with an referance cooler. Also do you notice only one DVI port
