I usually run 2x AA with AF in the middle. Everything else on high.

Why don't you check this site first and then extrapolate a bit. You'll get an idea. I know they don't have the 1440 reso you are asking but it's not too much just to use a bit of sense to figure that out. 1440 reso is about the same as 1280x1024 in card performance.

The thng I like about these gamespot hw guides is that take the effort of analysing the video settings with screen comparisons, so it pretty much takes care of the "what settings I can run <insert 2142/Cod4/crysis>?"

                  Lookie here too http://www.gamespot.com/hardware.htm...om_clk=topslot

nVidia have the superior DX10 cards at the moment, you are better off with them.

But if youre on a budget go for ATI since they are better value for money.

Yes, that is a well known fact. But some people can afford some stuff. I can't even afford an x800. Let alone a DX10 card.

On a budget level: The Radeon 3850 offers a good bang for buck that Nvidia just can't compete with

Mid Range: 8800gt still has an awesome price : Quality ratio

High End: 8800gts offers awesome performance, but a heavy price tag
