Ok so in my new PC i have an Edimax wireles card

And whenever i want to play a game online let it be COD4 or BF2 i always have interruptions..like on cod4 i have connection interrupted for 1-2 seconds and the same with bf2..every 50- 60 seconds...really annoying...cant notice it that much on COD4 but in BF2 it is really frustratin to be flying a jet and just ram into the gorund because i have a "Problem with connection"

On my Edimax wireless utily app on me PC it says i have 100% signal strenght as i am in the room above my wireless Netgear router...I have also tried ping on cmd but it came up with no lost packets...and a maximum ping of 2ms and minimum of 1ms and an average of 1ms...So do any you guys know the problem? I would really like to know whats going on...Also if it helps i have Vista ultimate 32BIt and Norton 2007 trial...(planning on getting AVG when trial runs out)

My brother gets that. It's just typical crap wireless signal. I have heard of strange work a rounds like enabling WEP or WPA encryption, but i'm no expert.

I dont get how it can be crap..i can surf the internet fine and my downlaod speeds and upload speeds are alot faster than my computer actually hooked up to the router...and as stated above it says i have 99%-100% signal all the time...i tried turning auto protect off and firewall off when i play a game but i just got nothin...and also what do you mean of "strange work a rounds like enabling WEP or WPA encryption"

Also try getting your LAN drivers, chipset drivers, etc. This seemed to help me a little.

Yeh do you mean install the wireless card drivers? because ive already done that...

No, look for drivers for your motherboard as well. Like the chipset drivers and the LAN driver. This helped me a lot.

Make sure there is nothing in the way of the wireless network that can interfere these can range from small radios to microwaves.

Also make sure your behind a firewall especially on wireless and also enable wep or wpa if your router supports it.

As long as your wireless signal is strong ie 6 and above your net should be ok.

You need to install the wireless utility itself.

There's a problem with Windows' wireless zero conf service, it cuts out every 60 seconds as you said yourself:

Hes just saying make sure you installed the software for your adapter to manage your connection. don't let windows manage it instead.

Oh yeh the stuff that came with the card I installed...I said that in first post...I use the app it came with

Does anyone have any other suggestions because atm ive built this gaming computer only to not be able to play any of my games online..properly....


Edit: Ok ive ben looking around me comp and in my device manager under network adapters i have a Attansic L1 Gigabite Etherenet 10/100/1000Base-T Controller , and a Ralink 802.11n Wireless LAN card. I have no idea what they are but my Wireless card is a Edimax....Also on the back of my PC on the card backpanel there are 2 lights but they are never on..is there a chance that i installed the card incorrectly?

Edit2: after googling the Ralinnk thing that is my edimax card...it says its there and i have the utility that came with it.. Now i also googled the Attansic thing and that is my onboard wlan chip i think?

Correct.

You said you installed the drivers off the cd. Go to the manufacturer website and get the latest drivers for your adapter instead. Usually what comes on the cd is old and does not work properly.
