Well my dad installed my new 500 watt powersupply and we tried booting it but we have no video now.The fans run and the hard drive as well, but no video.
I didnt see if he grounded himself(though he should know) so could my motherboard be fried now?
Should be at least 2 power connectors on mobo....4 pin and either 20 or 24 pin. You could also have a 6 pin or 8 pin in place of the 4pin. If the mobo is older there could be a molex connector as well. All of these need to be connected or you will not get a successful POST.
If fans are spinning chances are good that mobo is not fried but it's not impossible either.
Check for missing connection to graphics card (6pin or 8pin or nothing at all depending on your card).
If you can't find any missing connections then try starting it up with only one piece of RAM installed to check for faulty memory. 9/10 times I get a computer that won't POST the problem is faulty memory.
It might also be helpful to know what PSU, CPU/mobo and GPU you have installed. It's possible that your new PSU isn't good enough to power your system thought not likely if your dad did his homework.
I swear i posted on here last night, but i reset the cmos battery and reseated the ram and it worked fine.Though the hdd didnt power on the first couple times but i just used a different sata power and it worked.
