I just realized my computer (not my new one) has a Pentium 4 with hyperthreading. Not a Core2duo that I always thought I had. It always said I had 2 CPUs, but I never looked at the sticker....

Also my school library has better computers than the one I'm typing on right now. Coolermaster case and PSU, Core2Duo, and guess what? 8600GT! Who needs a $200 gfx card with 32 stream processors for word processing and internet browsing anyways?!

lol. yeah my school just bought like 2 labs worth of these macs with C2Ds and decent everything else.

plus im sure ppl use the computers for other stuff. like my computer science class uses it for programming which is a lot easier with those computers. and computer graphics design..etc

We have 8800gts's in about 30 of the computers at University. It's so people can game after the working day. Never been in there though to see whether it's popular or not...

I'm at University of Southampton dude (Not Southampton Solent University (that's no good)). Best place in the country for computing and electronic engineering.

The comps with the 8800gts are aimed at foreign students who have laptops which can't play games.

Yeah, planning on going to Uni. South., if I go well in Chem. and Physics, otherwise Warwick for law .

If your planning to do a degree that's not covered by the electronics and computing department (ECS), you won't get access to the 8800gts machines, or anything else like the Mac's, or, my personal favourite, the Linux machines.
Those computers are inside the ECS buildings which require ID cards.

All other departments use the old Pentium 4 beige boxes of generic crap.

Any of those sorts of subjects. I'm personally doing an IT/Business degree. But anything that involves computers, you'll be in ECS.
