8600 for me.

Hey all, Just thought i'd let you know that i've bought an 8600 for £40 on ebay. I did have a 7900GT, so hopefully this will allow me to actually see things on Crysis.

I've even putting it in myself, god help me. :shock:

I did get an 8800, but thats not for my main computer. I'm putting one together to sell, but i dont know whether to get more money for the one im selling with the 8800 or to use the 8800 and get less money for the one i'm selling with the 8600.

The 8600 isn't hopeless. Its just not groundbreaking, but who cares. I dont play games on high resolution anyways.

I do care about the graphics, but the 8600 will do me fine. My 7900GT is FUBAR'd so i just need cheap and cheerful at the moment.

yeah with the 8600 you can crank the graphics up on almost every game, as long as you play at 1280x1024 or lower. Personally, I'm not too keen on big screens because my desk is small, and I don't want to move my head just to look in different areas.

the 8600gt is a worse card than your 7900gt, whereas the gts version is about on a par

youll still struggle in crysis, even my 8800gt doesnt play it that great

Nope. It's a quad core CPU. I got the same one. His is OC'd

Still beats out on many single core CPU's. It isn't an aw3s0m3 l33t CPU, but it definitely isn't bottlenecking your comp.
