I'm looking into getting a new comp. and I was wondering what is the best kind of PCI x16 8800 card out there? I've narrowed my search down to about 10 via newegg, but I'm still undecided. I do plan on getting vista if that matters all that much.

If you mean you have narrowed it down to 10 different brands (say 8800GT) then look for externals or what's included with the package or just plain price. The cards are identical as long as they use the reference design (the cooler is the same).
If you mean I have narrowed it down to 8800GTS 320MB, 8800GTS 640MB, 8800GT etc. then go for the 8800GT. Or the new 8800GTS 512MB.
There are plenty of reviews on the net where 8800 series go head to head to see who comes out on top.Comment

dont get a 8800gts 320 or 640mb they're old g80 are get beaten the cheaper 8800gt. but the ultra and gtx are g80 but they're still faster than the new g92 8800gts 512mb. the 512mb 8800gt (g92) is almost as fast as the new gts and $100 cheaper. also DO NOT get the 256mb 8800gt. it is bottlenecked by the memory and not that much cheaper than 512mb 8800gt.
But it all comes down to budget....
also next year - jan or feb, new 9xxx series will be coming outComment
