    HDD Detection issues

I have recently installed a Samsung SH-S203D Sata 250GB hard drive.

My other HDD works perfectly ok which is good since it has my OS on it.

The issue with my new HDD is that i cannot detect it in My Computer. However it does appear in the BIOS/CMOS screen.

I have reinstalled it, updated drivers and still nothing.

    Any suggestions?

    Specs:

    IC2D 2.4Ghz
    Win XP Pro
    Samsung SH-S203D HDD

I had a similar problem. I have the "B" version. I had the SATA cord that plugs into the MOBO connected in the wrong plug-in. I had to plug and unplug till I got it right. Hope this helps.

Are you connecting it with SATA? What OS?

New harddrive not formatted may not appear in My Computer,

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > On the left pane Storage, Disk Management, your new hdd should appear there as unpartitioned ie a black bar. Right click create a new partition.

And if that isn't it, you have a disabled IDE/SATA channel. Pissed me off for a good few days till I found out.
