8800 GTS SSC vs 8800 GT

found the review for the EVGA 8800 GTS Super Super Clocked and according to EVGA it out performs the 8800 GT question is which one to buy, one is 512 the other is 640 price wise isnt much diff possibly 60 bucks but is it really better and cooler ( and by cooler i mean heat wise lol) then the GT

evga trying to get people to buy old tech lol, the SSC is on the old G80 chipset, you better off waiting for the 512mb version of the gts which is on the G92 ame as the 8800gt.

i think it is said to be better than the GT dont know how far better though cuz the GT aint that far from the GTX then that would only make u imaging it would be really cool if it could perform close to the ultra lol! (btw dont think thats happening lmfao)

its faster than the 8800gtx at most resolutions and settings on games, so yeh if you want something a little faster than the 8800gt wait for this one

Here's a little indication what kind of a beast the new 8800GTS 512MB will be. Honey on a cake I would say. Eats GT for a breakfast.

shame about the price tag :laugh: a few places its the same price as a GTX, if it wants to compete against it it would have to be lower.

What I've noticed during the last years is that card prices do not dramatically drop from their original price. But over the time you get a newer and more powerful for about the same price as the old one is. At least this has happened to 8800 series. 8800GTS 640 costs the roughly the same (maybe 50 bucks shaved off) as a year ago. 8800GTS 640 will never be cheap.

So from now on you prolly have to shell out around 200-300 euros for a good performance card. But if you just keep renewing your card say yearly or half a year you get maybe 50-70% of the price back of your older card, so it's not too bad.

This makes these now quite emergent marketing style of EVGA upgrade deals very, very lucrative. Plus EVGA has a hook on you since you'll be back faster than Schwarzenegger doing a sequel for Terminator.

Impressive card.

But not as fast as GTX. The OCed GTS 512 beats the default GTX, not with default clocks.
