My opinon is go with the 3870XT as such in scinto's sig i think they measure up to a 88GT and with ATi pricing it should be cheap! the benchies shown by scinto says it all!

except the 3850 im looking is 512mb and the one in the benchies is 256mb. how much more fps per second is the 512mb version than the 256mb version. (3850)

Well, definitely go for the 512mb version. 256mb isn't big enough anymore to deal with game textures, and it especially limits the maximum resolution.

yes i know that, but also, what is the difference between the 512MB 3870 and 512MB 3850 apart from ddr4 & ddr3?

I believe the 3870 just has higher memory and core clock frequencies. Although, actually, some hardware might be different.

in cod4 on high how many fps would a 3870 get vs 3850? - both 512, also how many would a 512 8800gt get with no overclock?

also i just saw on the 3850 page it has 5.1 surrond sound, does this mean it has a soundcard in it as well? - the screen im getting has speakers in it - does that mean the sound goes through the visual cable because i saw on the back of the 3850 it doesnt have audio jacks in the back

                  sorry for all the questions

                    3870 - 75-80 iirc
                    3850 - ?
                    8800GT - 100+

Aye the ATi cards come with onboard sound i assume it would bypass the default onboard but dont know as i dont use it.

The 8800's have been ruling for a bit now, they will continue to do so, if ATi doesn't come up with something.

Faster core on the 3870 and GDDR4 as opposed to GDD3,
