PSU questions.

Hey all, I just orderd a 8800GT From dell (Awsome price) And being I only have a 300W I need a new PSU. On another site i was told this http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...ct_code=342053
was a pretty sweet deal for the $$. What do you think of that PSU?

i've had that psu for about a year and a half now. very good psu, active pfc, near silent fan, long cables (ok, that could be a negative if you're really cramped for space). I'd like it to have been modular, but oh well.

As long as they honor the rebates, it's a good deal. The 'egg has it for $129, no rebates.

a fully configured overclocked q6600 based system will draw ~340W with an 8800gt according to the reviews i've looked at while googling:

most of that will be on the +12v rail, meaning you'll ideally want about 28A on the +12v rail(s) (to make up for loss of efficiency) to be within your psu's likely peak efficiency range, and thus not heat it up or waste electricity unnecessarily. You can typically find those on 550-650psu's, but looks for active pfc, over-volt protection, and a good hold-up time.
