    I need advice

I just got a new 512 mb nVidia GeForce 8400 GS gfx card.
Can someone please tell me the best inputs for the video settings in bf2 and bf2142 that I can have?
I want to put my graphics to the best I can without lagging or crashing etc but I dont know much about this kind of stuff

just start experimenting. nobody has the same RAM and processor and and that stuff, and it will be differnt for them. This is one of those things only you can figure out completely

I'd say about medium settings if you want a guess though

It would help if you posted the rest of your specs

Let's say you want to have 1280x1024 (although I realistically expect you to use 1024x786)

You would do well to start off with medium setting all around.

The essentials to have is the 100% draw distance and high geometry, since these enable you to see farther afield. If you can run these 2 settings + medium elsewhere then you are set.

No AA and "Enhanced lighting" (the single check box) needed since they bring your 8400GS on it's knees. Also no need for shadows.

Take a look at this site to catch up

Tweakguides can help you with that.

                Processor:Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)
                Memory:1022MB RAM
                And yes I use 1024x768

Ok this is what I have so far reading from what ya'll have put so far.
Everything on medium except. Geometry high. viewing distance 100
                aa off
                enhanced lighting off

Do I really need Texture Filtering?

Texture filtering here means Anisotropic Filtering in other games/instances.

You might want to have 4x. Makes teh game look much better.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anisotropic_filtering (check the pictures and the external links)

Here's an example. Look into further ahead. The lower the AF the more blurrier is the texture on the ground.
