Internet Help!

Well I'm trying to connect my laptop to the internet by an ethernet cord but it won't connect to the router and such. The laptop connects and runs fine on the wireless but whenever I try to connect it via the cord, nothing seems to work!

I've tried turning the router, modem and computer off, plugging everything back in and still nothing. I've also tried repairing the connection but that comes up with an error.

I keep getting you have Limited or No Connectivity.

Any ideas on how I could fix this?

Are you sure you have the right cord,

Theres 2 types, a Crossed, and normal.

I believe you need crossed, but im unsure..

To check grab your cord, put both ends next to each other, and look at the colours, if there in the same order, there normal, or if there different colours in different places, its crossed!

I could have this completely wrong... ( Like Normal Lol )

you need straight (normal). Crossover cable is for connecting two computers directly to each other via Ethernet.

Go to netowork connections and enable ethernet.

Do you even get an IP-address from the router?
Can you connect directly to the modem, bypassing the router?

maybe try a 'flushdns' ?

start > run > cmd

ipconfig /flushdns

make sure you have proper drivers for the ethernet device if needed.
