confused amd user.

Hello everyone..

I've been using amd all my life i live by it and trust it ..

Recently I've been very confused with the actual socket and processors that support socket 939...

I was wondering if someone can point me to a list of processors, that are dual core, that support socket 939 on this fatality an8 board i have...

I'm so very confused..
i need to upgrade from Winchester 3000+ dinosaur over here.

the more and more i read about this I'm just so unsure of what supports socket 939

sadly I've nearly considered going Intel quad core just because i have seen it do things i cant imagine...like the new game crysis on max etc etc....I've yet to see any amd do it..
.....anyways ...

if there is something that can compare to the q66 quad that Intel is making please enlighten me ...

I've read multiple things about am2 processors that are dual core 64 bit working on 939..
i just don't know..

im guessing thats your current CPU in that chart, Q6600 will be a massive jump from your current Cpu.

yes it will be..but I'm efforting the fact that amd runs games better then Intel..but that is just from my own personal findings...i mean I'm not saying Intel cant compete, but it seems in the long run amd systems seem to shine through in the whole shot...
maybe just an upgrade to socket f with the amd 64 quad will be sufficient enough to run games like crysis on max etc etc.....

No, back in socket 939 days, AMD thrashed Intel. Intel had their Netburst Pentium 4's, Pentium D's etc... and AMD had the 3800+, 3500+

However, times have changed and the new Core 2 Quads and Core 2 Duo's will wipe the floor with any of AMD processors. If your looking to upgrade at this time, Intel is the way forward.

You could upgrade on socket 939, but the processor would still be old. All newer AMD CPU's use the AM2 socket, so your going to need a new motherboard whatever the case, thus go for an Intel.

well maybe the new quads for amd will be thrashing them again..lets hope...im so not fan of intel lol...
i am curious...but ive used amd all my life, never build a intel system to date, and i dont plan to ...lol...
so lets hope amd has the quad 64 bit cpus done right in jan \feb

yeah, I'm a hardcore AMD fan too ever since my first build when the skt 939 came out. But lately they've been lagging behind a little and it looks like Intel is going to be on top of the cpu market for a little while. If you do want to stick with AMD anyway, now is NOT the time to upgrade since they are releasing a new socket with their phenom processors. But unless the prices are crazy cheap, the q6600 is the way to go right now.

yea..thats how it goes sometimes ..i was lookin at the die's of intel with there 80 core crap or whatever that they got going on, they plan to put in home pcs in the next 5 years...ill post the you tube link to it in a new post here ..
